How to frame?

The method of framing largely depends on the substrate (paper, canvas, support), in what dimensions  and what medium (paint, pencil, etc.) I use.

My paintings are available on canvas, but also on  canvas and paper. I use different media, usually acrylic, tempera, pencil, charcoal, watercolor, sometimes oil paint. I always protect my works with  vernix/fixative.

Work made on  canvas or paper  in unusual dimensions, using media such as  acrylic, charcoal, tempera ordered to size. There are many shops on the market that offer the service of framing to size.

I personally used and can recommend https://oprawamywramy.pl/ . When placing an order  add information,  that you only need the back with the frame (I protect each work against damage with varnish or fixative). Give the dimensions in the order and write that it is a painting on canvas (not a canvas), and you are asking for the back to be attached to the frame (hdf disc). Below is an example of such a framed work.

You can also order glass / plexiglass  because the painting made with acrylic/tempera/pencil/charcoal is flat and you can put glass on it. Below is an example of such a framed work (here is also the frame from https://oprawamywramy.pl/  this time I sent a photo of the painting and got professional advice on how to frame it and ready-made frame suggestions).

Below is an example of a framed reproduction from an ordinary supermarket, passe partout and glass. Passe partout has, apart from decorative, an additional function - it protects the picture from sticking to the glass, provides space for the picture to breathe.

If the work was done with oil paint on canvas, then I advise you to order only the back with a frame, because such a work contains convexities, it is more structural (it is varnished, so it is protected against damage). If the canvas contains white frames (i.e. margins, i.e. a few cm of unpainted space on each side of the canvas), then the canvas can be stretched on a stretcher and framed.

Works made on a canvas are ready to hang, but if you want, you can also frame them.

I hope that I helped. If you have any more questions, doubts, I will be happy to help. Write to me at the email address martaiandart@gmail.com, or via the contact form on the website or send me a message on instagram / facebook.
